I have tried Ananda Bhavan in Penang Little India, Sungai Petani, and Tanjung Bungah. They have never failed to impress me. Especially the one in LIttle India – where there are two shops, one serving pure vegetarian food – really delights me.
As I walk around Changi Airport Terminal 2 two days ago, there is this sign:
Seems like the shop is expanding fast – outside Malaysia now. I think they deserve to be so successful. If you have tried their food, don’t wait, go try it asap.

hi bro,
The Ananda bhavan outlets in Malaysia are different from the Singapore ones. It is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in singapore.
Is it? How come they share the same name? Are you sure they are not related?
Yes i'm sure. Unless if my dad has hidden a secret from me.
Or maybe Ananda Bhavan is such as favorite name that many people use it. Sounds like you own the restaurant. Do you only sell vegetarian food? Ananda Bhavan here also sell non-vege meals - but it has one outlet that is pure vegetarian.
Hello Janaka,
Viren is correct, ABR in Singapore is pure vegetarian restaurant and they have several branches in Singapore, but mainly in Serangoon area and only now expand to Changi Airport. The other pure vegetarian retaurant is Komalas, which also has several branches in Singapore and even in foodcourts. These 2 companies serve only PURE VEGETARIAN food and I am happy to say that I am a very happy customer of both Komalas as well as ABR. From my home I go to Komalas and from my office I go to ABR. Both companies serve very good delicious vegetarian food. In fact I am going to the ABR at Changi Airport tomorrow to have lunch with a friend. :)
